February 14 – International Book Giving Day!
On February 12, in celebration of International Book Giving Day, a walking quest titled “A Book is the Most Valuable Gift” was held at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University with the participation of active book-loving students of the university and specialists from the city libraries of Shymkent.
First-year students of the 6B03201 – “Library Science” educational program of Tashenov University actively took part in the event in accordance with the program outlined below.
The book-themed walking quest “A Book is the Most Valuable Gift” was conducted in the following areas:
Book Start – participant registration and an initial task;
Book Quest – search and logical tasks based on book content;
Book Poetry – a poetry and creative stage;
Book Challenge – team games;
Book Heart – final stage and sharing impressions.
At the closing ceremony, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Humanities R.S. Tukenova delivered a speech on the importance of fostering a reading nation in line with state policy and promoting a culture of reading. She also donated her autobiographical memoir “Өзге емес өзім айтам өз жайымды” to the university library.
