Tashenev University strengthens international project competence in preparation for grants from the European Commission
With the active support of Onalbai Ayashevich, Chairman of the Board of Tashenev University, the University has completed participation in the international professional development program in the field of project management, implemented with the assistance of the Belgian Council for Cooperation in Higher Education. The Belgian Education Council program is focused on developing competencies in the preparation of applications for participation in grants from the European Commission.
Strategic development of project activities
The initiator of the participation from Tashenev University was Vice Rector for Strategic Development and Science Zhanar Kasymbekovna Rysbekova. According to her, the priority is the formation of sustainable human resources in the field of project activities.
"Tashenev University is actively integrating into the European educational space. Professional development in the field of preparing applications for Erasmus+, DAAD and Horizon Europe is an important element of our strategy," Zhanar Kasymbekovna emphasized.
What has been achieved:
• Application technologies for Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, DAAD have been mastered;
• Participants are registered on the EU Funding & Tenders Portal platform;
• A roadmap has been created for the launch of an international project support office at the university;
• 5 design concepts have been worked out for the upcoming Erasmus+ competitions (autumn 2025);
• The first application for Key Action 2: Capacity Building in Higher Education is planned.
In 2023, 4.3 billion euros were allocated for Erasmus+, of which 600+ million were allocated for partnership projects with Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Kazakhstani universities submit about 90 applications per year, of which no more than 20-25% are successful.
This confirms the openness of the university and its interest in sustainable international partnership.

"This is not a one—time initiative, but the beginning of building a systemic grant infrastructure within Tashenev University," Zhanar Kasymbekovna added.
